The JL Industries RHRMA-2 Aluminum RetroMount™ Series roof hatch 30"×54" is designed as a retrofit replacement solution where the existing roof hatch frame and curb remain in place.  The RetroMount system includes a new lid (cover) and replacement frame assembly that installs over the existing frame and curb using provided mounting brackets, allowing roof access to be restored or upgraded without removing the curb or disturbing surrounding roofing materials.

The RHRMA-2 features an insulated cover and frame, weather-resistant perimeter gasketing, and an integrated hold-open arm for controlled access.  Submittal drawings and installation documentation provided below support proper sizing, coordination, and project review for commercial and industrial roof access applications.

Application & Use Case

The JL Industries RHRMA-2 RetroMount™ roof hatch is intended for commercial and industrial roof access replacement where an existing roof hatch frame is structurally sound and remains in place.  This model is commonly used in maintenance, retrofit, and renovation projects where minimizing roof disturbance and avoiding re-roofing are important considerations.

RetroMount roof hatches are appropriate for facilities that require continued roof access while upgrading aging or damaged hatch covers and hardware.

Installation Considerations

The RHRMA-1 installs over an existing roof hatch frame and curb using the mounting brackets and fasteners provided.  Proper installation requires removal of the existing hatch cover and hardware, preparation of the curb surface, and secure attachment in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Field conditions, curb dimensions, and local building codes should be verified prior to installation.  Refer to the installation guide for detailed procedures and safety guidance.

Important Note
RetroMount™ roof hatches include a replacement lid and frame assembly designed to install over an existing roof hatch frame and curb.  The existing frame and curb must be structurally sound and suitable for reuse.

Optional OSHA-Compliant Safety Rail System
An optional OSHA-compliant bolt-on safety rail and gate system is available for use with RetroMount™ roof hatch installations.  When specified, the rail system mounts to the existing frame area and is designed to provide perimeter fall protection around the roof hatch opening.

Safety rail systems are commonly specified for commercial and industrial facilities where roof access requires additional fall protection in accordance with applicable OSHA guidelines.  Verify site requirements and local code compliance prior to selection.
