The JL Industries RHD-KIT-DEFLECTOR Roof Hatch Deflector Plate is designed for fixed ladder access roof hatches where overhead clearance is insufficient.  The deflector plate helps address ladder clearance requirements under OSHA 1910.23(d)(13)(ii).

OSHA 1910.23(d)(13)(ii) requires fixed ladders without cages or wells to have a minimum clearance of 30 inches from the centerline of the ladder rungs to the nearest obstruction on the climbing side.  Where unavoidable obstructions reduce this clearance, OSHA permits a minimum of 24 inches when deflector plates are installed.  This requirement may apply to common ladder access roof hatch sizes, including 36 x 30 inches.

Constructed of 20 gauge cold rolled steel (CRS) with a yellow powder coat finish, the deflector plate mounts on the hinged side of the roof hatch. Installation requires fastening the plate into wood blocking or other material supporting the roof hatch.
